The Department of Oriental Languages, in association with the PG Department of Sociology, Literary Club, and Noble Reads, organized a vibrant National Reading Day Celebration on 23 June 2026 at 2:00 PM in the College Auditorium, reaffirming the institution’s commitment to nurturing a strong reading culture among students.
The programme was conceived with the aim of promoting reading as an essential habit for intellectual growth, critical thinking, creativity, and lifelong learning. The event brought together students and faculty members in a meaningful gathering that celebrated the transformative power of books and knowledge.
The programme commenced with a prayer, setting a reflective tone for the occasion. This was followed by the welcome address delivered by Mr. Sharafudheen A.K., Head of the Department of Malayalam, who highlighted the significance of National Reading Day in inspiring students to embrace reading as a daily practice.
The presidential address was delivered by Dr. Abdussalam M.P., Head of the Department of Sociology, who spoke about the role of reading in shaping perspectives, broadening understanding, and developing informed citizens.
The event was formally inaugurated by Dr. U. Saidalvi, Principal, Noble Women’s College, who emphasized the importance of reading in achieving academic excellence and personal development. In his inaugural address, he encouraged students to cultivate consistent reading habits as a foundation for knowledge, wisdom, and character building.
Faculty members and student representatives offered felicitation speeches during the programme, reflecting on how reading contributes to enhancing communication skills, expanding creativity, and fostering social awareness.
