Young Innovators Programme (YIP)
YIP is a flagship programme of the Kerala Development & Innovation Strategic Council (K-DISC), the think-tank advisory body of the state government. It aims to foster a culture of innovation among the youth of Kerala. The programme is open with an aim to all students studying in class 8 or above across Kerala (age limit is 13 to 35 years). This includes School, ITI, Arts and Science, Polytechnic, Medical and Engineering students, and the students from other institutions. Only the students belonging to the institutions managed by ICAR can register up to the age of 37 years.
The college registered in YIP in the academic year 2021–22, with the primary aim of empowering future innovators to generate and present fresh ideas. In its inaugural year, 39 ideas were submitted, out of which 4 were selected for the district level, and two groups represented our college at the state-level venue. In the next academic year, 6 groups from various departments submitted their ideas, and two have been shortlisted in the preliminary evaluation, awaiting the next level of the competition.
